Clean Up for the Soul

This blog will be a little different today. I'm not going to talk about photography, just going to share something from my past.

Do you ever find yourself cleaning and stumbling across old letters, poems and pictures? Does it make you stop what you are doing and reminisce? Well, this week, that seems to be happening to me.  I have been on a deep cleaning kick and keep coming across poetry that I wrote back in middle school and high school. It's riddled with your typical teenage angst. Then there are of course the love poems, which make me just smile to think of how truly young and naive I was.

I'm going to take a leap of faith here and share some of those poems with you. Please be kind. If you'd like to leave me some love or share a story/poem of your own, I welcome it.

Foreshadowing

Black clouds
foreshadowing the inevitable.
Gushing drops of cold, hard rain
onto the heads of unaware civilians.
Candles being blown out.
Going quietly into the storm.
Winds moving at impeccable speed,
pressing willow trees to sway.
Willow trees with their weeping branches.
Tapping their fingers on a window pane.
Summoning unsuspecting lives.

Blue Angel

Blue Angel
with ruffled feathered wings.
Blue Angel
who makes harps sing.
Blue Angel
with a halo of white gold.
Blue Angel
who never gets cold.
In a symphony of enchantment at night,
carrying a rested soul
to the light.
Beautiful Angel
with your eyes tainted blue.
Angel in our hearts,
thinking of you.
Our faces moistened by salty tears.
Blue Angel
fly down and capture our fears.
Blue Angel
flying fast over sea.
To sit by my bedside
and watch over me.

Grow Up

We've grown up.
From the thumb sucking babes we were.
From the hiding place behind our mother's skirt.
We grow into
the once dreaded adult years.
Our youthful faces still show
but our minds are sharpened.
When we first fell in love and failed
we seemed to shed skin among tears.
Slowly peeling the layers back
reaching the core.
The second time we fell in love,
it seemed to last an eternity.
Colors seemed to blend,
and the clouds parted.
To let Heaven shine through.
Loving you was a beautiful experience.
Nothing could take that away from me.
Though we couldn't escape our share of problems,
our love would never run away from me.
We grew apart
and our blood runs warm,
for another.
I wish nothing but good things for you.
The memories of us
will remain.
Live your life and grow.
But never forget
what we once had.
I am so lucky to have been loved by you.

United

Where's the gold and lace?
The champagne flowing glasses?
Where are the rose petals and tulips?
The bells that chime late in the morning?
I don't need them.
Two birds,
white doves together.
Blessed be all that live,
United.

Announcing: One Love Project

Sometimes my brain just won't shut off. My head is swirling with ideas, especially when it comes to photography.

I want to start a project focusing on couples. I want the chance to document love, in all of it's stages. Whether you are a newly formed couple, newly engaged/married, parents who need time for just each other or married for 50 years. The project is non-discriminatory, so I welcome both opposite and same sex couples.

I may be corny here, but I just want to be in the presence of love and let the world see it too. If you are interested in working with me, please email me for the details. If anything, it will make for a fun date!

The Upgrade

New camera. To channel Chandler Bing (that's a Friend's reference for those of you who don't know), "Could I Be any more excited?"

For Christmas, I received quite a few unexpected presents. Things that I didn't plan on having for at least another year or so. Well, because I have a wonderful family who believes in me, they decided to upgrade my equipment this year. I started off using a Nikon D50, which I have to say, has been very good to me. But, the new "baby", the D7000 is so far, outstanding. I haven't had that much time with it yet, but I love what it can produce. I thought I'd share a few of my images.
