Jennie & Joe: Part Two

If you missed part one of Jennie & Joe's One Love session, click here http://kristinesoares.blogspot.com/2012/02/jennie-joe-part-one.html to get caught up.

I mentioned before that I like to ask a few simple questions to get to know the couple better, well...I have to throw in a few oddball questions too. Just to keep them on their toes. I asked Jennie and Joe, if a movie was made about them, what would it be and who would play them? Jennie thinks it would be an indie flick called Is Yahoo Personal (that's one version of how they met)? And she would be played by either Mila Kunis or Zooey Deschanel. Both are incredibly loveable and funny, just like Jennie. And Joe's answer, makes me think he has thought about this question before. It would be an R rated movie called Against the World, directed by Michael Bay. "Dexter"(Michael C. Hall) would be the lead, Tom Cruise plays a crazy neighbor and get this, the father would be played by Christopher Walken. Wow. Now that's a movie!

Some think that after a couple have been together long enough, that the romance dies. I'm pretty sure that isn't the case with these two. Romance doesn't always have to be grand gestures, sometimes the little things go a long way. For Jennie & Joe, it's as simple as opening the car door for one another(scene from A Bronx Tale, flashing in my head).

I always like to hear how people knew that they were in love or have met the "one". When Joe saw Jennie coming off a train, she ran to give him a hug and he was "hooked". Jennie remembers Joe taking her to see her favorite Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Nights Dream. She glanced over at Joe and started picturing herself growing old with him and then had the courage to say the words, "I love you" for the first time.

So lastly, I like to ask all my couples what they think makes a relationship work/last. Jennie & Joe believe that honesty and communication are vital to the success of a good relationship. Joe had to add in "endless patience", which I totally agree with! Jennie also added date nights. "Life can get chaotic and it's important to take time out to remember what made you fall in love with each other". Well said, Jennie, well said.

I want to thank Jennie & Joe for sharing their story and being great models to work with. Be sure to check out my Soundtrack of My Life page for a special song dedicated to the Hertellos!

Jennie & Joe: Part One

When I started thinking about the One Love Project, one couple definitely came to mind. That was Jennie & Joe. I've now had the chance to "work" with Jennie on a few projects and just love her bubbly personality. And watching her with her husband on a past shoot, inspired me to tell the stories of couples truly in love.

In order to really get to know the couples I work with, I like to ask a few simple questions. I feel that it not only helps me, but it also is a fun way for the couples to connect. Jennie & Joe decided to answer them separately and compare answers like The Newlywed Game. After reading their answers, I want to hang out with these two again, they are a riot.

Jennie & Joe have been together for 8 years. Apparently, there are two stories they tell people about how they met. One version, Jennie describes as "geeky" and the other is their "cute" story. Geek version: They met via Yahoo Personals and spoke for 3 weeks before meeting. Cute version: They met at a supermarket, when Joe knocked over a Cheez-It display with his backpack and Jennie burst out laughing. Joe was immediately attracted to Jennie's smile (and who could blame him!) and Jennie jokes that it was his acid washed jeans that drew her in(totally need to see a pictures of that!).  Whatever story they tell people, it's clear that these two still have the same connection they had when they first met.

Just look at how these two look at each.

Jennie and Joe have a ton in common. They both love the beach, mozzarella sticks, enjoy shopping for their home, their cat Jiminy and they even drive the same car. Most importantly, they both answered how much they care about others.

As similar as they are, I love the contrast in style. Here is Joe, casual in jeans and sneakers. Jennie, all dolled up in a dress and heels. Check out those gams! (Note the dirt on her heels was from the two of them climbing a tree in previous shots!)

I will throw my two cents in. They both have a great sense of humor. We had a blast walking around Newburyport and taking advantage of the signs that we saw. There was never a dull moment.

When One is Bored

I have to admit that things in my photography world have been pretty slow. I like to think it's because it's winter and people just want to hibernate. So, when I'm itching to take pictures, I turn to my own models. My son and my cat. Both are so use to the camera, they probably think Mommy looks weird when she's not holding one. So I bring you an afternoon of a child and his cat...oh and some pretty flowers I got.

After an "accident", Matthew helps pick up Vinny's food.

All is well my friend.
